Helping real people make real choices

In Lieu of Flowers

“In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions to help defray final expenses”.

Can you imagine these words to be at the end of your obituary?  What a sad commentary to the end of one’s life and how difficult it must be for the family to request help.

As a life insurance professional for 43 years it has been my practice to give those I meet with the opportunity to avoid this type of situation. Clearly it is one’s personal choice to buy life insurance or not.

Life insurance isn’t just to pay for final expenses, it can also:

  • Payoff a mortgage
  • Fund a child’s education
  • Provide $$ for emergencies
  • Provide supplemental retirement income

I did not know the person who had these words at the end of their obituary; perhaps their health
was such they could not medically qualify for life insurance; perhaps they never thought they would die so young and “had time” to do it later.

The bottom line, a family has been negatively impacted because of this death, now added to that loss, financial hardship.

Today, YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO ACT!
